Khogorog river valley is one of the well-watered regions of the Darkhad Depression located North of Mongolia. There are more than 100 nomadic families herding their animals in the valley all year round because of this.

This river valley was formed by a volcanic eruption. The Khogorog river drains to Tsagaan Nuur, the biggest lake in Darhad Depression located right near the town, its namesake.
