Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Mongolia & Transfer to Altanbulag

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar: Land at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, where you'll be warmly greeted by your guide. The drive takes approximately 2–3 hours, allowing you to enjoy the open landscapes and picturesque views of Mongolia’s countryside. Receive Your Bow and Arrows: Once you arrive at the training field, you'll be given your traditional Mongolian bow and a set of arrows to use throughout the training. These will also be yours to keep as a unique souvenir of your journey. Your expert horse archery trainer will introduce you to the basic techniques, guiding you through your first steps in the ancient art of shooting on horseback. After the introduction, engage in some initial field archery practices.

Day2 : Full Day of Advanced Training

Today, dedicated to honing your skills, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the next phase of the journey and the upcoming festival. Dive deeper into your horse archery training. Field Archery Mastery. Focus on accuracy, speed, and consistency in your shots. Practice shooting at varied distances and targets with guidance from your trainers. Learn to communicate with your horse to achieve better coordination and control. Transition to shooting arrows while on horseback, starting at a slow trot. Work on maintaining balance, timing your shots, and synchronizing your movements with your horse. Trainers will provide personalized tips to improve your technique and confidence. Share experiences and enjoy the peaceful nomadic setting under the scattered billions of stars. Overnight in a ger.

Day 3: Transfer to New Camp & Ride to the Nomad Festival with Horse Archers

After a hearty breakfast, we will embark on a short 1.5-hour drive to our next camp. Take time to get acquainted with the horse, ensuring you're comfortable and ready for the ride. The ride will be an all-day horseback journey toward the Nomad Festival site, where you’ll continue honing your riding and archery skills under the guidance of your trainers. Ride with Horse Archers: Travel alongside Mongolian horse archers, who will teach you their ancient techniques of riding and shooting. This is a rare opportunity to learn from experts while practicing on horseback. By evening, you'll arrive at the Nomad Festival site. Upon arrival, you'll help set up your camp for the night, which includes preparing your ger (traditional Mongolian tent) and settling in for a restful evening. Your trainers will assist in creating a comfortable camp environment, allowing you to feel fully immersed in the nomadic experience.

Day 4: Rest, Horse Preparation & Afternoon Practices

After a day of riding and excitement, enjoy a relaxing morning to rest and recharge. Take this time to soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings and reflect on your journey so far. In the late morning, we’ll focus on getting the horses ready for the next leg of the journey. This includes fixing horse trails, clearing any obstacles, and preparing pathways for smooth riding ahead. You’ll engage in focused sessions to further develop your skills in horse archery. Day 5: Full Day Practices with Mongolian Horse Archers

Begin the day with a traditional Mongolian breakfast, followed by an exciting opportunity to meet and practice with local horse archers. Sessions will focus on building your balance, coordination, and accuracy while riding at different speeds. You’ll engage in specific drills to improve your aim, timing, and precision while riding. Day 6: Nomad Festival Day - Enjoy the Celebration & Participate in Competitions

Day 7: Nomad Festival Day 2 - Enjoy More Competitions & Practice

Enjoy horse races, archery contests, and traditional wrestling, each event showcasing the incredible skills and strength of the local participants. Explore the festival market where you can purchase local handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs that reflect the nomadic heritage. Day 8: Drive to Ulaanbaatar City via Chinggis Khaan Statue

Migration Day is a unique experience where you’ll ride horses and drive the entire herd across the steppe to the Nomad Festival. This traditional practice mimics the nomadic lifestyle, where families would migrate with their livestock to new pastures. You’ll actively participate in this journey, riding alongside the horses and helping to guide them, giving you a hands-on experience of what it’s like to live like a Mongolian nomad. This day provides an authentic way to connect with the landscape and learn the skills needed to manage horses in the wild.
 

If you are unable to ride for the entire day, vehicle support will be available. Our team will ensure that you can still fully enjoy the experience, as you can choose to take a break and travel by vehicle if needed. You will still be part of the journey, witnessing the migration of the horses and the beautiful landscapes, while also receiving plenty of opportunities to ride when you feel comfortable. Your comfort and enjoyment are our priority, and we will make sure you have an unforgettable experience at your own pace.

It is recommended to bring your own sleeping bag for added comfort during your stay in the ger camps. While the camps provide bedding, a personal sleeping bag can offer extra warmth and familiarity, especially during cooler nights.
