Hustai National park, also known as the Birch Tree Mountain was originally created to reintroduce the truly wild horse Takhi or Przewalski horses in 1992.
It is a strictly protected national park where you can have a wonderful experience wildlife spotting. After the area was under protection, many species of wild animals filled the area. Red Deers, marmots, foxes, gray wolves, palace cats, and many different species of birds to mention a few.
You can easily reach Hustai National park from Ulaanbaatar city with a 2-hour drive by tarmac paved road heading west. It is also a destination you can visit while traveling to Elsen Tasarkhai or the Little Gobi. You can also visit the park while heading towards Kharkhorin or Karakorum, the ancient Mongol capital.
