Altai town is located in Bayan-Ulgii province, in the west of Mongolia. After reaching the provincial capital of the province, Ulgii, you can reach this small town heading 110k south by local car or with your Tour Operator.

As one of the simple, smaller towns of Mongolia, this “Sum” has a population of 5000 and has Kazakh, Urainhai, and Tuvan people. This town has had electricity since 2001 and about 150 000 livestock. Moreover, this town has well-developed local agriculture to the point where locals grow potatoes and other vegetables for their use.

Most importantly, Altai town is well known as a home to several skilled Golden Eagle Trainers and Masters. Moreover, there are also two Golden Eagle Festivals here, one in March and one in September.
