What to Expect:

The rewards of visiting a seldom-explored country require traveling with flexibility, a spirit of adventure, and a willingness to accept local standards of amenities and services. Mongolia is a developing country in terms of infrastructure; delays or changes in the itinerary are possible, and indeed likely.

It is very important that travelers contact Nomadic Trails with any special needs, such as dietary or medical restrictions, as soon as possible so that every effort can be made to accommodate special needs. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the client, in conjunction with their health care provider, if necessary, to determine whether their needs can be met sufficiently to allow for a safe and comfortable journey.

Please note that all scheduled flights originate in Ulaanbaatar, so to fly from one destination within Mongolia to another, you will always return to Ulaanbaatar first. Also, it is not possible to arrive in Ulaanbaatar and connect with another flight on the same day. Therefore, you must overnight in Ulaanbaatar for at least one night before flying to another destination. Scheduled flights to the various destinations in the countryside do not operate every day, and sometimes only once or twice per week. Therefore, the number of days spent at a destination may be dictated by the
flight schedule.

All itineraries should be taken as an approximate schedule of events, though every attempt will be made to adhere to the given schedule.

Itineraries are subject to change due to weather, airline schedule changes, road conditions, and other reasons beyond our control. When chang-
es occur in routing or activities, we do our best to provide the best alternatives possible to accommodate all of our clients.

Accommodation with the local family would be a traditional ger with foldable beds, toilet facilities would consist either of an eco-toilet, which is a western-style toilet if a bit bulkier and requires chemicals for composting or shared toilet with the guest family. For our tented camping trip, there will full camping facilities such as a separate shower and toilet tents. The shower tent consists of a shower pump and tent. For an expedition trip, an expedition hand washing with water will always be available to use.

Cultural and Environmental Responsibility:

In our rapidly changing and shrinking world, travel is increasing to destinations that were once inaccessible. Contact between unique cultures,
such as the traditional nomadic horse-based culture of Mongolia and the outside world can have a definite impact on both sides.

By promoting cultural interaction based on mutual respect and an understanding of cultural differences, we strive to maintain a delicate balance, neither accelerating the modernization of ancient cultures nor suppressing their natural evolution. Nomadic Trails commits to making a positive impact on the destinations we visit and giving back to those who dwell there and thus encourage our travelers to participate in our activities.

Nomadic Trails has committed to responsible travel and sustainable tourism since our birth. It is our strong belief that these words should not be simply ‘tagged on’ to dossiers and websites but should be at the very core of each trip and adventure.

We believe that a successful trip not only delivers a unique and unsurpassable journey for our clients but that it also benefits the peoples whose lands we are privileged to visit.

To us Responsible Travel coincides with Responsible Busines, therefore we design trips with the local people, culture, and ecosystem in mind. We are very aware of the economic, ecological, and ethical impact tourism can have on ancient cultures and fragile environments.

We realize that taking clients through these regions can have a detrimental impact if not handled responsibly and as such, on all of the tours we go to great lengths to minimize the negative and accentuate the positive – after all, there are also many good things that the traveler can bring! It will also benefit the people whose lands we are privileged to visit.

We guarantee that when designing our tours, we utilize our own experiences to break down barriers and provide ethical business for those lesser known areas with so much to offer.

Eco-friendly products are a significant part of all our trips. We utilize Eco-toilet paper and napkins. They are made from grain bran with absolutely no chemical additives and also meet the US and EU safer product standards. For our expedition kitchen, we use products of Amway for cleaning utensils and more. It contains bio-based ingredients with more positive health and environmental characteristics than conventional products.

We pride ourselves on challenging perceptions and raising awareness through low impact experiences and ethical business – not just through our charity work.
